💑 Our Relationship Guidebook
A sacred (and slightly chaotic) manual for us two
☮️ Conflict & Peace
🌙 Never sleep angry
No matter how tired or stubborn we are, we settle it before lights out. Even if "settling it" means agreeing to disagree and hugging it out. The bed is a no-grudge zone.
🤐 No silent treatment allowed
Ghosting each other in the same house is strictly forbidden. If we need space, we say "I need 20 minutes" — not disappear like a ghost with a grudge.
🚫 Fight the problem, not each other
We are teammates (The Dream Team), not opponents. No low blows, no bringing up ancient history, no "you ALWAYS do this." One issue at a time.
👀 Connection & Presence
👁️ Eyes before everything
When we see each other after time apart, we stop, look into each other's eyes for a moment, and actually arrive. No scrolling, no TV, no rushing. Just us, first.
📵 Phones down at meals
Dinner (or any meal together) is sacred hang time. The memes will still be there. The tacos won't. Put the phone face-down and eat like humans who like each other.
🛋️ Weekly "us" time
Once a week, a date — big or tiny. A walk, a movie, cooking together, whatever. The point is: we chose each other again this week, on purpose.
😂 Fun & Lightness
😂 Laugh together, always
If we can make each other laugh about something stressful, we do it. Life is absurd. We are absurd!
🎲 Try new things together
At least once a month, we do something neither of us has done before. It can be tiny. The goal is to stay curious about each other and life.
🌱 Growth & Gratitude
🙏 Say it out loud
Appreciation doesn't count if it only lives in our heads. "Thank you," "I noticed that," "you made me feel loved today" — say it. We don't assume the other person just knows.
🌿 Cheer for each other's solo dreams
We are a team but also two separate humans with goals. We actively root for each other's individual growth — without jealousy, without competition.
🔄 Revisit & update this guidebook
We are not the same people we were a year ago. Once a year (birthday? anniversary?) we re-read this and ask: what's missing? What can we let go of? We evolve together.
We choose each other not because it's always easy, but because it's always worth it.
This isn't a contract. It's a love letter we wrote to ourselves. 💕
